PROJECT OVERVIEW
Maxwell Health provides benefits and HR solutions for small to mid-sized businesses managing open enrollment, compliance, and employee benefits.
Maxwell needed to transform the employee benefit management experience into a modern, simple, responsive, intuitive application. The goal was to create a paperless system that would save Maxwell Health’s customers time by managing their full suite of benefits online with an easy-to-use interface.

UX/UI DESIGN PROCESS
As part of the team at ZeroDegrees, I was embedded within the Maxwell Health product org. I worked directly with PMs and other product team members to understand the user personas, UX challenges and tech requirements.
SKETCHES/WIREFRAMING
Much of the flow had been defined by the client, but I conducted a “mini-audit” by sketching out the flow myself, re-interpreting the resources provided. This allowed me to find gaps in logic, and areas that needed to be re-evaluated.
VISUAL DESIGN
Maxwell had previously established brand guidelines, including palette, fonts, iconography, and illustrations. I worked within these rules to create the look and feel of the site, pushing for exceptions to brand guidelines, usually in the name of accessibility issues (legibility, color blindness, etc.)
FINAL DESIGN
The resulting design was a scalable platform that allowed Maxwell’s clients to manage employee personal info and benefit options directly with the products they offered and conforming to the business rules required of them, all while being simple enough for a myriad of users.
